O’Rourke Construction Ltd (OCL) were instructed by their trusted client to mobilise to site promptly due to the severity of the fault works that required immediate assistance.
O’Rourke Construction mobilised to site within 24 hours, procuring the required plant, equipment and materials from our sister company O’Rourke Plant Hire and from our other many suppliers, to commence the works. O’Rourke construction replaced the 400kv circuit from the GIS terminations to three new joints.
O’Rourke Construction undertook the below requirements for our client:
- OCL set up a CDM area, site offices, canteen, drying rooms, toilet block, tool/storage container and waste skips.
- Supplied all site management and resources for the project.
- OCL supplied and erected a concrete Lego block protective blast wall on the adjacent circuit.
- OCL supplied there scaffolding contractor to erect scaffold and make alterations throughout the project.
- OCL removed all heavy-duty concrete trough covers.
- The skilled OCL team undertook the shotblasting works, shotblasting the CBS from around all cable phases.
- OCL supplied their VAC EX contractor to assist the shotblasting team to remove shotblasted material.
- OCL removed all cables from the troughs, excavated and constructed the joint bay.
- OCL made alterations to the troughs, core drilling the side walls to divert the existing cables and the new cables to the new joint bay.
- OCL suppled all cable plant and equipment and installed the new 400kv cables.
- OCL undertook all reinstatement works, including steelwork alterations to the holding down cleats within the trough and the GIS structures.
