O’Rourke Construction Ltd (OCL) were instructed by their trusted client to mobilise to site promptly due to the severity of the fault works that required immediate assistance.
The OCL team worked right through the Christmas holiday season, including 24-hour days (Split shifts) to work with our trusted client in energising the circuit as soon as possible. OCL mobilised to site within 24 hours, procuring the required plant, equipment and materials. With the large supply chain OCL have to rely upon, our trusted suppliers were able to accommodate OCL during the festive season.
OCL undertook the following works to gain enough cable on the circuit phase to eliminate the requirements of a new joint.
- Supplied site management and resources for the project.
- Supplied all plant, equipment & materials for the project
- OCL supplied there scaffolding contractor to erect scaffold and make alterations throughout the project.
- OCL removed all concrete trough covers.
- The OCL team excavated in front of the GIS terminations to CBS level
- The skilled OCL team undertook the shotblasting works, shotblasting the CBS from around red and yellow cable phases.
- OCL excavated a new cable trench and ‘cut’ a section of the side wall of the trough to accommodate the relocation of the cable
- OCL lifted and repositioned the cable to gain enough for the GIS connection
- OCL undertook full reinstatement works including concrete protection slabs
